Trades and Professionals Insurance

Cover for employee injuries, damage to the public, theft of tools and more

How the package works…

It’s safe to say that trips, spills, injuries and unfortunately theft happen in the workplace. So why not make it safe to say you have the right cover. Employers liability is likely to be legally required and a good suggestion is to check any contracts you may have in place, they can sometimes define a specific level of indemnity or policy they expect before work commences. After this the package is flexible. Just select the policies and indemnity to match the type of industry you work in, or the level of risk you would like to cover.

Getting the right cover…

  • Employers Liability

Employers’ liability insurance can compensate your business if an employee becomes injured or ill as a result of their work. Your policy can also cover the legal costs incurred in defending a claim.

Employers are responsible for the safety of their employees during work and at the workplace. An employers’ liability insurance policy is legally required for almost all UK businesses that have employees, with very limited exceptions. Failure to have this type of insurance can result in costly fines. If you are in any doubt about whether your business legally requires this policy, please contact us.

  • Public Liability

Public liability insurance covers your business for legal defence and compensation costs following an accident or incident resulting in third-party injury or loss.

With this type of insurance, your business is protected against claims made by members of the public for alleged injury or even fatality related to your business activities. This could range from a customer tripping or slipping on your premises to serious health and safety issues.

Businesses of any size can take out this insurance. Without it, you could be liable for the costs of defending and settling claims made against your business.

  • Contract Works

Are you a tradesperson working on a construction site? You’ll know it’s impossible to plan for insured events such as fire, flood, vandalism, or theft. Damage from these events can mean having to redo the work and, in some contractual cases, paying for the labour and material costs again.

This is where Contract Works insurance steps in. It covers the funds needed to repair or redo the work you completed before the insured event occurred. The main costs covered typically include tools, materials, and labour.

  • Business Stock

Many tradespeople store stock, often in a yard or storage facility. Sometimes to ensure they have the correct stock for an upcoming project, or because ordering in bulk is cheaper and faster than waiting for individual orders to be delivered.

So, how is this stock protected? Business Stock insurance covers the replacement value of your stock in situations where it is damaged or lost due to an insured event.

  • Business Equipment

This policy provides cover for the damage or loss of business equipment and office contents. It is separate from tools cover and focuses more on equipment that you may keep in the office, such as computers, phones, and portable machinery.

This product is primarily intended for the digital and communications side of technology. If you are using leased or owned plant hire, this is not the right add-on for you, please speak to one of our experts.

  • Employee Tools

Are your tools a business asset, or do your permanent staff have their own? Either way, if they are damaged in a fire or flood, or even stolen, the replacement costs can be extremely high.

With our cover, you can specify the total value of your tools, giving you peace of mind that any financial loss incurred will be covered. It’s important to note that some online suppliers set a maximum limit for tool cover; at that point, it’s best to speak to one of our experts for further support.
